The Ultimate Format Converter
Whether you're encoding MPEG for DVD production or a Windows Media for
streaming, ProCoder makes conversion from one video format to another
quick and easy. Featuring Canopus's highly optimized DV and MPEG CODECs,
ProCoder provides high-quality output without the long wait and guesswork
of similar tools.
Produce, Perfect, Process
To simplify your workflow, ProCoder provides some powerful manipulation
tools to get your sources ready for conversion. Stitching allows you to
link multiple sources of various formats together to create a single seamless
result, preventing you from having to combine the sources in an editor.
Source filters provide useful enhancement tools, such as bitmap overlay,
cropping and volume adjustment, to ensure perfect input before encoding,
while target filters give you the flexibility to make specific adjustments
for particular output.
High-quality Codecs
ProCoder includes Canopus's high-quality, high-speed, proprietary DV and
MPEG-2 codecs. Canopus's DV codec provides the best picture quality preservation
at the highest speed, reducing the impact of multiple recompressions.
Canopus's MPEG-2 codec employs two-pass variable bitrate (VBR) compression
and advanced motion-estimation algorithms to provide the best possible
encoded result.
Speed without Limits
Utilizing the full power of modern computer systems through Canopus's
Scalable Technology architecture, ProCoder's conversion speed increases
with the power of your system. In many cases, ProCoder can transcode files
faster than realtime, beating out costly hardware encoders.
Convert once, Create many
Encode a single source to multiple targets simultaneously, run multiple
conversion jobs back-to-back in batch mode, or use ProCoder's drag-and-drop
preset icons to start conversion with a single click. ProCoder provides
the streamlined workflow to convert once and create all the output formats
you need.

Macromedia Flash import capabilities – Convert web-based Flash
graphics and animation to video formats for use in video projects.
New QuickTime exporter that supports advanced QuickTime features to
generate files optimized for Internet streaming.
New QuickTime importer that loads sources in their native color spaces,
improving speed and quality when working with QuickTime-based systems
such as Avid and Final Cut Pro.
New Windows Media exporter that supports two-pass encoding of audio
and video for higher-quality output with full support for Windows Media
9.
Ability to create output based on previous Windows Media versions for
backward-compatibility with older Windows Media Players.
ITU-R BT.601 color correction capabilities that compensate for different
color conversion algorithms used by different systems, thereby maintaining
image quality at the highest level possible.
The ProCoder 1.5 update also includes all fixes and feature implementations
contained in previous updates.

ProCoder V1.2 Released:
Proving Canopus's commitment to supporting the latest emerging technologies,
the v1.2 release of ProCoder adds support for RealVideo 9 (Helix) as well
as important enhancements to streaming output, Main Profile at High Level
(MP@HL) MPEG-2 support and a variety of speed and quality enhancements
listed below.
ProCoder v1.2 new features list
ProCoder v1.2 includes many additional features and enhancements, many
of them requested by ProCoder users.
RealVideo 9 (Helix) support
ProCoder stays on the cutting edge of technology with support for
RealVideo 9.
Multi-bitrate configuration for Windows Media and RealVideo output.
Configure the settings of individual streams in a multi-stream Windows
Media or RealVideo output.
MPEG-2 Main Profile at High Level (MP@HL) support.
MP@HL allows for larger frame sizes, higher framerates and increased
bitrates over MP@ML. Note: decoder capable of playing MP@HL streams required.
MPEG-2 3:2 pulldown flag can be set
Set the 3:2 pulldown flag for MPEG-2 targets
Automation features for droplets and silent completion
Run droplets with command-line options to have them auto-start, log
errors to a file and auto-close ProCoder on completion.
Within the normal GUI, you can also disable the completion sound.
Option to discard field when encoding to 1/2 height progressive targets.
For interlaced sources going to progressive output that is 1/2 the height
(ie, 720x480-352x240, etc) there is a new option to discard fields - this
will speed encoding up to 2 times faster.
Improved NTSC<-PAL quality
NTSC<-PAL conversion quality has been even further improved.
Raw DV file import
Import .dif and .dv files from NLE systems that use raw DV files.
MPEG-2 quality improved even more.
Improved quality in special situations such as fade-ins, etc.
MPEG-1 unconstrained parameters.
Ability to specify MPEG-1 parameters outside of standard profile (larger
than 352x240/288), higher bitrates.
Improved AVI import.
MJPEG files, DV Type-1, and other commonly-used AVI formats are better
supported.
Adaptive Deinterlacer improved.
Choose to use the motion adaptive, interpolate from dominant field,
or discard non-dominant field algorithms.
If there is a output file naming conflict, a new option is available
- "Overwrite all for this project" - keeps you from having to
click Overwrite for every target.
"Scale after crop" option for the Crop filter.
When Scale after crop is selected, only the active crop area is used
in processing, so it is scaled up to fit the target frame. Left unchecked,
the Crop filter will matte (replace with black) the cropped-out area.
During conversion, you can select which output is displayed in the preview
by clicking the output file in the list.
