If your camcorder is not listed please
do not email us asking if it can be done. These unlisted models will be
hardware locked and therefore cannot be DV enabled.
Customers with DV Studio manufactured by Panasonic may use the digital
still cable supplied with the editing kit! Download version available for
customers with digital still cable.
Questions and Answers
How complicated is DVin enabling?
Actually this is very easy:
Under Win 95/98se/ME/2000 & XP
- Using the supplied cable connect your camcorder to your PC and power
on camcorder. Run the program supplied on the floppy disk. There is no
need to install the software to your hard drive.
- Press the "Identify" button, the software will identify Your
camcorder.
- Press the "Enable DV-IN" or "Disable DV-IN" button, according to what
you want to do. Wait until the software has finished (this takes 1 to 3
minutes depending on your camcorder Model)
Please note: once the camcorder is DV-IN enabled using a PC it may
be used on any editing system as long as the editing card supports the
camcorder. e.g. Apple Imac.
Can I enable recording of analogue video ?
It is not possible to enable recording via analogue inputs on any model !
Do I have to enable DV-IN whenever I want to record a digital video ?
No. Your camcorder "remembers" that dvin has been enabled, even when you
turn off power.
Can I disable DVin later?
Yes. PanaDVin makes this as easy as enabling.
What System do I need to use PanaDVin?
You need a PC with a serial port running Windos95/98se/ME/2000 and XP. It
will not work on emulators (MAC, LINUX,...)
It is not possible to enable recording via analogue inputs on any model !
